Jane Tufo

Jane “Jenny” Tufo, 91, of Barben Ave., Watertown, passed January 14, 2018 at her home where she was surrounded by her family.

She was born on June 14, 1926 in Watertown, daughter of Alfred and Rose(Gross) Giordanelli.  She attended Watertown schools and worked at Olga Knitting Mill in her younger years.

She then married the love of her life Bernard “Benny” Tufo on October 23, 1949 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.    Following their marriage, after Benny served in the Army and was a city police officer, their dream of being restaurateurs became a reality.  The couple owned and operated Benny’s Steakhouse for 52 years.

She and her husband were also communicates of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Jenny enjoyed life to the fullest and always wanted to help other people before herself.

She is survived by her five loving children, Bernard “Bernie” and Renee Tufo Jr.,  Sammy Tufo and his companion Lisa Couture, Michael and Jeanne Tufo, Karen and Jasper Grant and Joey Tufo; eight grandchildren, Michael Tufo, Billy Tufo, Bridget Tufo Smith, Vincenzo Tufo,  Ben and Gina Tufo, Emily Rae Tufo, Erin Jane Tufo,  and Jessica Dobson-Tufo ; five great grandchildren, Nicholas, Garrett and Gavin Tufo and Addison and Ainsley Smith; four sisters, Barbara Giordanelli, Mary Gaus, Anne Marie Granetz, Grace Flynn and her brother, Frank Giordanelli, a brother in law, Sam Tufo and three sisters in law, Carol Tufo, Dora Berkman, Joanne Jones and several nieces and nephews.

Her beloved husband Benny Tufo Sr., passed June 29, 1997, a granddaughter, Lisa Mae, two brothers, Michael and Joseph Giordanelli, three sisters, Theresa Giordanelli Delaney, Lucy Majo and Louise Devine, and a brother in law, Jerry Tufo all died before her.

Arrangements are with the Hart & Bruce Funeral Home, Watertown.

There will be no calling hours.  A Funeral Mass will be said 11 a.m. Thursday, January 18 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, with Rev. Donald Robinson officiating.

Burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday, May 3 in Glenwood Cemetery.
