Sandra Percy Obituary

Sandra J. Percy, 80, of Burnup Road, Black River, passed away unexpectedly May 20, 2018 at the Samaritan Medical Center.

Calling hours will be Noon to 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 23 at the Bruce Funeral Home 131 Maple St., Black River.  The funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home with Bishop Douglas Marlow officiating.  Burial will be in Black River Cemetery.

A Celebration of Life will follow the services at the cemetery at the Black River American Legion.

She was born on November 11, 1937 in Watertown, daughter of Omar and Nora (Greene) Schofield, she graduated from Black River High School.

She married Richard J. Percy of Watertown on May 3, 1958, the couple resided in Black River.  Mr. Percy retired form Consolidated Freight Way as a truck driver in 1994 and worked with his sons at Black River Tree Removal.  He passed away on July 5, 2010.

Mrs. Percy worked in the Finance Office on Fort Drum as an accountant for several years, retiring in the late 90’s.  Following her retirement she bartended at the Carthage VFW and at the Van Heuvel II Marina on Lake Bonaparte.

She was a member of the Watertown Elks Lodge and Black River American Legion Auxiliary.

Sandy loved spending time with her family and friends and her unconditional love for her family was amazing. She always had a great sense of humor and a wonderful smile to go with it.  She enjoyed camping and wintered for many years in Dade City, FL and summers in Black River Bay, Dexter.

Among her survivors are her daughter and son in law, Kim and Scott Kitto, Pillar Point, four sons and two daughters in law, Richard J. and Louise Percy, Timothy J. and Sue Percy, Rodney P. Percy, all of Black River and Michael D. Percy, of Dexter, 17 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, Richard Percy who passed in 2010, her son, Stephen J. “Bubba” Percy also passed in 2014.
