Obituary

Albertha M. Wagar, age 90 of Dexter passed away Thursday morning at Samaritan Keep Home surrounded by her family. She had been a resident there since 2009. Albertha was born April 7, 1921 in the Town of Brownville the daughter of Austin and Nina Widrick Wilder. She attended school on Pillar Point and graduated from Dexter High School. She worked as a Nurse's Aide at Mercy Hospital for 25 years and retired in 1986. Albertha married Leslie A. Wagar on December 3, 1941 in Watertown. Mr. Wagar passed away in 1998. She was a member of Dexter United Methodist Church, enjoyed reading, gardening, dancing and crafts. She is survived by five children and their spouses: Donald and Janet Wagar of Tuscarora, N.Y., Gerald and Nina Secor of Penfield, N.Y., William and Jean Wagar of S. Carolina, John and Linda St. Joseph of Ogdensburg and James and B Eves of Dexter. She has nine grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister Helen Reed and a brother Levi Wilder. Funeral services will be Monday 11:00 a.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter with the Rev. Patricia Walz of Dexter United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Dexter Calling hours will be Sunday from 2:00-5:00 P.M. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
