Obituary

Arlene M. Young, 65, of 29794 NYS Rt. 3, Black River, passed July 30, 2016 at Upstate Medical University. Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wed., August 3 at the Bruce Funeral Home 131 Maple St., Black River. The funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Thurs., August 4 at the funeral home.  Burial will follow in the Black River Cemetery. Born on April 18, 1951 in Watertown, daughter of Francis and Lucy (Thomas) Clark, she graduated from Carthage High School in 1969. She married James A. Young on April 19, 1969 at the Bethany United Methodist Church in Watertown.  Mr. Young worked at the NY Air Brake and he retired in December of 1992.  He died April 29, 1994.  Arlene worked at Parkview Cleaners in Watertown for several years before she became disabled. She was a member of the Emmanuel Congregational Church of Watertown, a member of the Carthage VFW and Charter Member of the Black River Valley Writers Club. She enjoyed going to church, camping, writing, cooking, crafts and spending time with her family. Among her survivors are her companion, Andrew Hatalak, Watertown; her daughter and son in law, Tammy and Andy Miterko, DeFeriet; two sons and a daughter in law, Jeff and Johanna Young, Black River, Michael Young, Rome, NY; three brothers and two sisters in law, Frank and Donna Clark, Black River, Les and Linda Clark, Watertown, John Clark, AZ; three sisters and two sons in law, Mary Mono, TN, Chris and Paul Ray, GA, Linda and Bob Kelley, AZ; her mother in law, Shirley Young, Black River; four sisters in law, Loretta Natowitz, Black River, Diana Young, Black River, Darla-Jean Lewis, Maryland, Shirley Ann Willis, FL; five grandchildren, James and Jordan Beirman, Taylor Welch, Alivia and Jeff Young Jr.;three step grandchildren, Mylee, Hailee, Isabell Blasier; a great grandchild, Blake Lane; several nieces and nephews.
