Arthur N. Roshia Jr., 82, of 712 Lillian St., Watertown, NY, passed April 21, 2015 at his home.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, April 23 at the Hart & Bruce Funeral Home, Watertown.
The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, April 24 at the funeral home, with Rev. Mike Ryan, Pastor of Assembly of God officiating.
Burial with military honors will follow at the N. Watertown Cemetery.
Born on May 18, 1932 in Watertown, NY, the son of Arthur N. and Bessie Pickett Roshia Sr., he attended Watertown High School.
Following school he became a member of the US National Guard before entering the US Army in1949. He served in the Korean War and was stationed in Japan and Korea. He was honorably discharged on August 15, 1952. He received the Occupational Medal of Japan, Korean Service Medal with one Bronze Star and the United Nations Service Medal.
He married Ruth Perrin of Watertown on August 31, 1952. The couple resided in Watertown. Ruth is a homemaker and worked as a custodial cleaner for the Watertown Board of Education from 1977 to 1996.
Mr. Roshia was a farm hand on the Wagoner Farm in Evans Mills, worked in the Foundry at NY Air Brake, Hunts Rubbish Removal in Watertown, and for the City of Watertown, Department of Public Works, up until he retired on January 2, 1992.
Mr. Roshia was a member of the Full Gospel Business Men's Association and a member of the Assembly of God in Watertown. He was an avid Yankees and NY Giants fan. He enjoyed playing horseshoes, cookouts and spending time with his grandchildren.
Among his survivors are his loving wife of 62 years, Ruth A. Roshia; four sons and three daughters in law, Arthur N. Roshia, Randy A. and Cheryl Roshia, Thomas N. and Katrina Roshia, Jeffrey S. and Laura Roshia, all of Watertown; three daughters and two sons in law, Rosemary and Kevin Thompson, SC, Sandra L. Ainsworth and her companion Michael Beach, Carthage, Darlene A. and Robert Nadon, Watertown; a brother and sister in law, Raymond and Rosemary Roshia, Watertown; 21 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Fours sister, Rose Smith, Thelma Bouvia, Viola Roshia, Shirley Roshia and four brothers, Gerald, Robert, Edwin and Donald Roshia all passed before him.
