Obituary

Barbara H. Haller, age 90 of E. Bradley St. Dexter, passed away Tuesday morning at Samaritan Medical Center. She had been a resident of Samaritan Keep Home since September of last year. Barbara was born January 24, 1921 in Montour Falls, N.Y. the daughter of Willis R. and Lillian Matthews Holt. She graduated from Black River High School, Cornell University, Potsdam State. Barbara married Donald R. Haller Sr. on July 6, 1944 at the Black River United Methodist Church. The couple moved to Dexter. She taught Home Economics, Health, Earth Science and General Science. Her career began in Henderson Schools and the Dexter High School and retired from General Brown Central in 1984. Mr. Haller died July 7, 1973. She was a member of NYSUT, Dexter Historical Society, Jefferson County Historical Society, 20th Century Study Club, College Women's' Club, A.A.U.W., Delta Gappa Gamma Sorority, and produced Wiz Quiz at WPBS Television Station for several years. She is survived by three children; Willis F. Haller of Dexter, Nancy Kraft of Mantua, N.J. and Donald and Sue Haller Jr. of Dexter. Grandchildren are Jennifer Green, Jason Kraft, Seth Haller and Emily Brown. Great grandchildren are Nathan Green and Katelyn Green. Funeral services will be Friday 11:00 a.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter. Burial will be in Dexter Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 2-4 and 7-9 on Thursday.
