Barbara J. Pomerville, 90, of Watertown, New York, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2026, at Samaritan Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on June 16, 1935, in Watertown, New York, Barbara was the daughter of Peter Collette and Alice Layo. She attended and graduated from Watertown schools.

On December 29, 1954, she married the love of her life, Richard G. Pomerville, at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church. Together they owned and operated Pomerville’s Septic Service from 1956 until March of 1994, when their sons proudly took over the family business. During those years, Barbara also worked as an assembler at Northland Electric, where she was employed from 1976 until her retirement in 1999.

The loss of her son Michael, was a significant blow to Barbara, but her legacy of strength and resilience lives on in those who know her.

Barbara found great joy in tending to her beautiful flower gardens and spending peaceful hours birdwatching. She treasured time with her family and was happiest when surrounded by those she loved.

She is survived by her three sons and a daughter-in-law, Richard J. Pomerville of Great Bend, Jeffrey L. Pomerville and Rona E. Pomerville of Felts Mills, and James Pomerville of Watertown; her two daughters and son-in-law, Susan A. and Ricky DeLosh of Great Bend and Nancy J. Pomerville of Watertown; eight grandchildren: Leisa and Wayne Lalone, Ricky Delosh, Jackie Pomerville, Jaden Pomerville, Janelle Pomerville, Josiah Pomerville, Mark and Staci Pomerville, and Kristina and Tanner Payne; six great-grandchildren: Jaylynn, Jaxon, Alexander, Rebecca, Charlotte, and Izick; a sister, Wendy Roy of Michigan; and a half-brother, Patrick Moore of Michigan.

Barbara was predeceased by her Husband, Richard, and her beloved son, Michael J. Pomerville; her siblings, Bill Collette, Rod Collette, and Helen Collette; and her half-siblings, Sandy Barber, Bernadine, Michael Moore, and Gordon “Butch” Moore.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, June 15, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Bruce Funeral Home, 131 Maple Street, Black River.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, with burial to follow in Glenwood Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will immediately follow the burial at the Watertown Eagles Club.
