Obituary

We mourn the passing of Barry Lynton Mills, Age 90, of Cape Vincent, NY on November 11th, 2015. He was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan to the late Clyde and Ester Mills. During his younger years Barryworked hard to help support his family. While going to school, he also traveled around picking peaches, was an orderly for the local hospital, delivered newspapers, and later drove for Mayflower Van Lines. Barry and his brother Brian eventually moved their Parents and siblings to Sugar Run, PA. During WWII, he enlisted and served under Gen. Patton's Army in Normandy, Germany, and France. He was awarded the Purple Heart and honorably discharged as a Sargent. After the war he attended Farris Institute and then Penn State University obtaining a degree in Industrial Engineering. There he met, married,and later divorced Maxine Snyder. He also worked as a lineman and drover a milk delivery truck while going to college. After college, Mr. Mills became employed by AIU, travelling around the world to inspect industrial plants for fire and other safety standards. While inspecting a hospital in Wilkes-Barre, PA.,he met and later married Mary McGuire. They moved to Riverton, NJ and then Lake Mohawk, NJ. In 1965 Barry retired from AIU and he and Mary moved to Montclair, NJ where they bought and ran fourAdult homes over the next ten years. They also managed two other Adult homes in the area. During these ten years, Mr. Mills became the President of the NJ chapter of the American College of HealthCare Administrators (NJACHA), then Governor for Region II for ACHA. 1973Barry obtained his Real Estate License and then purchased Mills Associates Reality as a Broker. He was also on the Board of Directors for the Livingston State Bank. He and Mary bought Beechwood Estate in Cape Vincent, NY in 1974 and after selling the Homes and Real Estate Agency, Barry and Mary semi-retired to Cape Vincent, NY. Barry had maintained his license as a Management Consultant. Heand Mary were widely requestedand assisted as a Consultant for several homes and hospitals in NJ and NYC. They alsomanagedKate Macy Ladd in NJ. It was sold to the King of Morocco. Mr. Mills and his wife returned to fully retire in Cape Vincent where Barry was a trustee for the Tibbitt's Point Light House Society. For the next 28 years,they spent their summers in Cape Vincent and winters at their home in Coral Gables/Miami, FL. They sold their Miami home in 2010 and returned to live with their daughter Adele, in Cape Vincent. Mr. Mills lost his wife, Mary in 2012 and then moved to the Summit Nursing Home, Watertown, NY late in 2013 where he stayed until passing. Barry was pre-deceased by his wife (of 60 years) Mary McGuire, Parents Clyde and Esther (Sargent) Mills; and Brother Brian Mills wife Clara. He will be missed by his: Children: Adele (Swartz) husband Donald; KathleenMills-D'Angelo; Mark (Johnson) wife Carolyn, Patricia (Johnson); Fourteen grandchildren; five great grandchildren. Siblings: James Mills wife Elaine, Rod Mills wife Carol, Doug Mills wife Jill, and Val(McKay) husband John; Ten Nieces and Nephews; He will also be missed by several life-time friends. A memorial service is tentatively planned March 5th 2016 in Cape Vincent.
