Obituary

Betty L. Flynn, 90, of 1200 Jewell Dr., Watertown, passed November 26, 2017 at the Hospice of Jefferson County Residence at the Ellis Farm.

The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, November 30 at the Bruce Funeral Home, Black River.  Burial will follow in the Black River Cemetery.

A calling hour will precede the service from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

She was born on April 4, 1927 in Oswegatchie, NY, daughter of Emmett and Helena (Powers) Briggs.  She graduated from Edwards High School in 1945 and went on to the Watertown School of Commerce where she received her secretarial degree.

Betty married Ronald C. Flynn on June 3, 1950 at the Catholic Church in Edwards.  The couple resided in Watertown before moving to Black River in 1958.  She became the Black River Village Clerk in the mid 70's to the mid 80's. Her husband Ronald retired from Stebbins Engineering & Manufacturing Co. after 41 years, he passed on November 6, 2003.

She was very active and held various volunteer positions at St. Paul's Catholic Church and was a member of the Alter & Rosary Society for many years.  She and her husband enjoyed traveling especially going to Hawaii for their annual trip.  Betty loved visiting family and hosting family gatherings in her home.  She was a very loving person and loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Among her survivors are her four children and their spouses, Patricia M. and Jean-Guy Boudreau, Memramcook, NB, Canada, Nancy L. and Gary Hall, Pride, Louisiana, Thomas C. and Lynn Skeele- Flynn, Virginia Beach, VA and Michael J. Flynn, Greenville, SC; six grandchildren, three great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband two sisters Pauline Pratt and Barbara Morgansen died before her.
