Billy C. Sargent, 90, of Brownville, passed away Friday April; 12, 2914 at his home, under the care of Hospice of Jefferson County.
He was born in Perch River, N.Y. September 25, 1923 the son of Alfred and Adelaide Sargent. He was raised on the farm and graduated from Dexter High School in 1940.
He married Leona Morrissey April 17, 1948. Leona, Operating Room Supervisor at Mercy Hospital, predeceased him in January 2011 as well as a daughter Della Adelaide, who died at birth.
Billy enlisted in the Air Force Cadet program in 1943 and was honorably discharged in 1945. He held a variety of jobs before working at the New York Air Brake. He worked there for 30 years retiring in 1982 as Production Engineer Supervisor.
Billy enjoyed: hunting, fishing, construction work and traveling. He hunted in Star Lake for over 50 years and was one of the original members of the Red Beret Hunting Club in Star Lake. Billy and Leona spent many winters in Florida and over 50 summers at the lake in Sherwins Bay.
Billy is survived by his daughter Pamela (John) Lucidi of Dexter, N.Y. Two grandchildren: John (Michelle) Lucidi of Windham, NH and Nicole (Dawson) McDermott of Whitesboro, N.Y. and five great grandchildren: Olivia, Adelaide, Jack, Madelyn and William.

Calling hours will be from 4:00-7:00 P.M. Tuesday at Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter with a funeral service following. Burial will be in the spring at Grove Cemetery, LaFargeville, N.Y.
