Obituary

Carol B. Gravell, 73, of Watertown, passed away early Sunday morning, August 3, 2025, at Samaritan Keep Nursing Home, surrounded by her loving family.

Carol was born on May 24, 1952, in Malone, New York, the daughter of Carlton and Evelina (Rivers) Gravell. She graduated from Franklin Academy in Malone, New York in 1970. She later moved to Connecticut where she met her husband. She went on to be a Certified Nurse's Aide.

In 1993, Carol returned to Dexter and continued her nursing career at Mercy Hospital in Watertown. After the hospital closed, she transferred to Samaritan Keep Nursing Home, where she worked compassionately as a Nurse's Aide until her retirement in November of 2013.

Carol had a warm and nurturing spirit that touched everyone she met. She loved spending time on her hobbies, including working on puzzles, crocheting, rock painting, and cooking. Above all, her greatest joy came from time spent with her family, especially her beloved children and grandchildren, who meant the world to her.

She is survived by her three sons: Scott Valentin, of Florida; Jason Valentin and his wife, Angela, of Watertown; and David Valentin and his wife, Brandy, of Rodman. Carol is also survived by her brothers: Thirl Gravell and his wife, Debbie, of Connecticut; Paul Gravell and his wife, Nancy, of Florida; Greg Gravell and his wife, Norma, of California; and her sister, Darlene Jaquish, and her husband, Dicky, of Keesville, New York.

She leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Isaiah, Aiyanna, Josiah, Ariana, Daniella, Aiden, Mirissa, Jordan, KayLee, Abigail, and Jaiden, as well as ten great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to her life.

Carol was predeceased by her parents, Carlton and Evelina Gravell.

She will be remembered for her kind heart, loving nature, and the devotion she had to her family and her patients. Carol leaves behind a legacy of love and care that will continue to live on through those who knew her and loved her.
