Carol Ann Wood, 76, of Evans Mills, NY, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2026, at Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse.

Carol was born on November 26, 1949, in Watertown, New York, the daughter of Gerald and Mildred (Mushtard) Wood.

Carol resided with her biological parents until the age of five, when she was placed at Rome Developmental Center. Following her discharge from Sun Mount Developmental Center, she became a part of the Jefferson Rehabilitation Center family in 1974. Since that time, she participated in the center’s day treatment program and most recently resided in one of its community residences.

Carol was a faithful attendee of Indian River Baptist Church near her home. She enjoyed music and especially loved playing the guitar, a pastime that brought her much happiness over the years.

She is survived by her sisters, Linda Wood Baker of Watertown, NY, and Brenda Petrie and her husband, Kenneth, of Watertown, NY; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Carol was predeceased by her four sisters, Elaine Priest, Joanne Priest, Geraldine Tibbles and Diane Wood, and her four brothers, Wayne Priest, David Priest, Ward Priest and Gerald Wood Jr.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, July 28th from 5-7 p.m. at the Hart & Bruce Funeral Home 117 N. Massey St., Watertown. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 29th at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in North Watertown Cemetery.
