Obituary

Carolyn (Corky) Marlowe, from Glen Park NY passed away on August 16, 2026.

Corky was born December 1, 1945 in Watertown to the late Hubert and Rose Boratynski Dillenback. She was raised in Limerick, attended Limerick Public School until it closed in 1956, then attended General Brown Central School, graduating in 1963. She graduated from nursing school at the House of the Good Samaritan in 1966. Corky married Raymond W. Marlowe, son of William and Doris Marlowe from Dexter, in October 1966. Mr. Marlowe passed away August 12, 2006.

Corky was a surgical nurse at the House of the Good Samaritan, now Samaritan Medical Center, and at the former Mercy Hospital, for 45 years, retiring in 2011. She was employed part-time with Black River Oral Surgery in Watertown after retirement.

Corky was the current President of the Glen Park Fire Department and an active member since 1991, President of the Dexter Historical Society, and President of the North Country Bird Club. She also volunteered at the Town of Brownville Food Pantry, the Jefferson County SPCA, and was a CPR instructor for the American Heart Association. She enjoyed birding, hiking, gardening, classical music and opera, reading, knitting and crocheting, and baking cookies and brownies for friends and family.

Corky is survived by her sister, Shirley Sauter of Watertown, her sister-in-law Norma Dobbins of Honeyville, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband Raymond W. Marlowe; her sister Martha Myers and infant niece Amy Rose; and an infant brother Robert Lawrence.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Glen Park Fire Department, 630 Main Street, Glen Park NY 13601; the Dexter Historical Society, PO Box 231, Dexter NY 13634; the Jefferson County SPCA, 25056 Water Street, Watertown, NY 13601; or the Town of Brownville Food Pantry, PO Box 642, Dexter NY 13634.

Calling hours will be held at the Hart Bruce Funeral Home in Watertown on Saturday August 22 from 1:00 to 3:00. A celebration of Corky’s life will follow immediately at the Glen Park Fire Hall.
