Cecil E. Greenwood, 96, LeRay Street, Watertown, passed away on February 22, 2016 at Hospice of Jefferson County at Ellis Farm, Watertown. Calling hours are 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 pm Friday, February 26 at the Hart and Bruce Funeral Home, Watertown. A prayer service on Saturday February 27 will be held 10:30 .m. at the funeral home prior to the 11:00 am funeral mass at Our Lady of the Scared Heart Church, Watertown, with Rev. Jonas Tandayu, officiating. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery, Watertown. Born February 6, 1920 on Wolfe Island, Ontario, Canada, son of John and Laura (Kane) Greenwood, he attended school on Wolfe Island. Following school he farmed and was self employed doing carpentry work. He later moved to the United States in 1946 where he lived in Watertown. He lived in Binghamton, NY for a short time where he met his wife, Minnie M. Miller of Pennsylvania. The couple married on October 1, 1949 in Stanuic, PA at the St. Paul's Catholic Church, with Rev. Zaranachy officiating. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Binghamton for a short time before moving to Watertown in 1950. Cecil was a self employed private carpenter and contractor for over 40 years in the Watertown and Evans Mills area. The couple also owned and operated a dairy farm in Evans Mills for a short time, where they resided in 1953. Minnie worked at Sears Roebuck & Co. for 30 years from 1951 until her retirement in 1981as a receiving clerk . She died on December 21,1992. Cecil moved back to Watertown in 2002. He is survived by several nieces and nephews, and predeceased by three brothers, Clifford, Harry, Emmett Greenwood, and three sisters, Lola Holder, Geraldine Flynn and Mable O'Brien.
