Obituary

WATERTOWN, N.Y.-  Claudia Van Brocklyn Schorr, 72,  of Thompson Street, Watertown, passed peacefully on her own terms Tuesday, June 6, while under the care of  Hospice of Jefferson County at The Ellis Farm, Watertown. Born February 12, 1945, in Little Rock Arkansas, the daughter of Captain Claude E. and Ruth (Wiley) Van Brocklin, she graduated from Immaculate Heart Academy, Class of 1962. In 1963 Claudia attended the Watertown School of Commerce receiving Certification in Secretarial Science and went on to receive an Associates Degree in same from Duchess Community College, Poughkeepsie, NY.

In 1966 Claudia married Robert Paul Schorr on May 7, 1966 at Holy Family Church, Watertown NY with Rev. John Pendergast, assistant pastor, officiating.  Robert and Claudia resided in Irvington, N.J. for a short period of time before returning to Watertown, NY to start a family. Claudia worked several positions within the Watertown City School District and worked as a temp employee for the State of New York.  Earlier employment included vacation fill in secretary for the Law Office of Ralph E. Gosier in Watertown NY, a Steno-Typist for the billeting office Camp Drum, NY (where she met the love of her life, Robert, while he was there on training), a secretary for the Newark Evening News, Newark, NJ and as an office assistant during the summers for her step fathers business, Raymond Specialties, Inc. Watertown, NY Claudia was a communicant of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church and a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Northside Improvement League. Claudia is survived by her husband of 51 years, Robt. P. Schorr, sons Robert Todd (D) of Watertown,  Matthew of Reykjavik, Iceland and Judd Adam (Allison) of Smyrna, GA.  5 grandchildren, Dillon Michael Schorr, Watertown, NY  Ravenn Schorr and  River Schorr, GA  Maximilian Porter Schorr and Eleanor "Nora" Claudia Schorr, Smyrna, GA and three step grandchildren, Sgt Ashley Wetherington USMC,  NC, Bryan Stephey, KY, and LCpl Charles Stephey USMC, NC Claudia is also survived by an aunt, several nieces, nephews and cousins and a sister in law that she was taking care of, Yung Ja "Jean" Schorr Claudia was predeceased by her father, Captain Claude E. Van Brocklin, and her mother and stepfather, Ruth W. and Gerald Raymond. Per Claudia's wishes, there will be no calling hours or services, internment will be at the convenience of the family.
