Obituary

Cora I. Burningham Carr, 87 of 1010 Washington St., Watertown, NY, died Sunday at Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown, NY. She was formerly of Limerick. She had resided for a while at Whispering Pines and was transferred to Mercy Health Care prior to becoming recently ill. Cora was born June 8, 1921 in Watertown, the daughter of Clarence and Effie Mallory Burningham. She graduated from Watertown High School in 1940. She married Malcolm Carr in 1940 at the Congregational Church in Watertown. The couple lived in Brownville, Dexter and Limerick. Mr. Carr passed away in August of 1974. Cora worked as an engraver at Faichney's Thermometer Co. in Watertown during World War 11. She was later a homemaker. Cora is survived by two daughters Phyllis Ward of Dexter and Frances Versace of W. Henrietta and two sons and their wives; M. Thomas and Carly Carr of Hillsboro, North Carolina and Rev. Kenneth and Charlotte Carr of Fowler, N.Y. She is also survived by a brother and his wife Charles and Faye Burningham of Morristown, Tennessee. She has nine grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. She has numerous nieces and nephews including a special nephew William and Penny Marvin and Miss Emily. Cora was predeceased by sisters Fannie Marvin, Ida Bermingham and Elsie Burningham. A private service will be held at Dexter Cemetery at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Donations may be made to Whispering Pines of Watertown or the Jefferson County S.P.C.A. Arrangements are with the Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter.
