Obituary

Curtis H. Wilton, age 83 of St. Lawrence Ave. Brownville died Wednesday evening at his home. He was under the care of Hospice and his family. Curtis was born December 1, 1926 in Harrisville, the son of Harry and Cleva Gardner Wilton. He was educated in Carthage and Adams Center. Curtis married Ruby Roadcap on June 15, 1947 in Brownville. The couple lived in Brownville and Ruby passed away September 5, 2002. Curtis was a truck driver and worked for Teals', Greaves and Smith Transport Trucking Firms of Watertown. He retired in 1987. Curtis was a member of Teamsters Local 687 of Watertown, he was also a member and current Master of Brownville F.& A.M. Masonic Lodge # 53. He is survived by four sons; Gary and Nancy Wilton of Floral City, Florida, Curtis Lee and Rita Wilton of Powhatan, Virginia, Herbie Wilton and Donnie Wilton both of Richmond, Virginia. He also has brothers Robert Wilton of Hounsfield, James Wilton of Brownville, sisters Gladys LaLone of Dexter, Anita Roach of Sulphur Springs and Joyce Simpson of Lexington, KY. He has 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday 11:00 a.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter with Rev. Patricia Walz of Brownville United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Brownville Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday from 4-7 P.M. with a Masonic service at 6:30 P.M. Donations may be made to Hospice of Jefferson County.
