Obituary

Daniel E. Boyle, age 93 of Franklin St. Brownville passed away Sunday evening at his home. Daniel was born March 26, 1922 in Jersey City, NJ the son of John and Mary Porter Boyle. He entered the U.S. Army in 1942 and was discharged in 1945 at Pine Camp, now Ft. Drum. Daniel married Lucy A. Carr on September 22, 1946 at Holy Family Rectory. Daniel was a meat cutter at Brooklyn & Hartman's' Locker Co. in Watertown, later became a rural mail carrier in Copenhagen. The couple moved to Brownville in 1977 where he was a rural mail carrier in Dexter until he retired in 1987. Daniel was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Life member of Brownville Post 588 American Legion, Brownville Senior Citizens, Past President of Mail Carriers Union for Lewis County, Former Fire Chief of Copenhagen, and active in Carthage Little Theatre. He is survived by two daughters: Mary Jane Boyle of Silver Spring, MD., Anne and Carl Griffith of Sidney, NY, two sons: Daniel and Gail Boyle of Maysville, SC., Patrick and Virginia Boyle of Brownville, NY. He has eight grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Lucy on February 7, 2003. Funeral services will be on Saturday September 5th at 11:00 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church in Brownville with Fr. Michael Gaffney officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's' Cemetery, Copenhagen. Calling hours will be Friday evening from 7-9 P.M. at the Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter. Donations may be made to Brownville Fire Dept.
