Daniel T. Gardner, 57, of 25095 Plank Road, Calcium, passed away December 21, 2016 at his home following a brief illness.

Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, December 27 at the Hart & Bruce Funeral Home, Watertown.

The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 28 at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jonas Tandayu MSC, Pastor officiating.

Burial will be in Sanford Corners Cemetery in the spring.

He was born May 18, 1959, in Watertown, NY, son of Donald Grant and Bernice R. Staie Gardner.  He graduated from IHC in 1977.

Dan spent 25 years as a corrections officer with the New York State Department of Corrections, primarily at Cape Vincent Correctional Facility.

He was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Baltimore Orioles, enjoyed playing cards with family and gardening.

Among his survivors are two brothers and their wives, Donald G. and Diane M. Gardner, Calcium, Douglas A. and Kimberlee D. Gardner, Navarre, FL; four sisters and their husbands, Jean M. and Richard N. Doell, Calcium, Judith A. and Kenneth R. Piarulli, Watertown, Joyce R. and John M. Pignone, Rodman, Jennifer M. and Michael A. Crestani, Calcium; along with several nieces and nephews.

Dan was predeceased by his father Donald Gardner in 2009, his mother Bernice Gardner in 2014 and his brother David B. Gardner, in 2011.
