Obituary

Diane Charlene LaVallie, 76, of Watertown, NY, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her beloved family and under the care of Hospice of Jefferson County.

Diane was born on May 24, 1950, in Austin, Minnesota, the daughter of Eugene and Joyce (Flink) Gerber. She graduated from Pacelli High School in Austin, Minnesota, with the Class of 1968. On March 21, 1970, she married Donald F. LaVallie in Austin, Minnesota.

Diane was a devoted homemaker, a home healthcare aide, and worked for Target until her retirement in 2015. Her husband, Donald, owned and operated LaVallie Beverage Company in Austin, Minnesota, for 42 years, retiring in 2017. Following Donald’s retirement, the couple moved to Watertown, New York.

Diane cherished her family and will be remembered for her amazing homemade birthday cakes she baked for all the grandchildren. She loved crafts, especially making jewelry, sewing, and calligraphy.

Among her survivors are her beloved husband of 56 years, Donald F. LaVallie of Watertown, NY; one daughter, Kristin LaVallie of Watertown, NY; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Derek LaVallie of Watertown, NY, Benjamin and Linda LaVallie of Austin, MN, and Richard and Heather LaVallie of Auburn, CA; eight grandchildren, Autumn, Summer, Celestina, Mina, Elizabeth, Alice, Jacob, and Asher; a brother and sister-in-law, Gregory and Bonnie Gerber of Austin, MN; a sister-in-law, Rhonda Gerber; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Diane was predeceased by a brother, James Gerber.

Arrangements are with the Bruce Funeral Home, Watertown. In keeping with Diane’s wishes, cremation will take place. The immediate family will have a private celebration of life to share memories and honor her legacy.
