Obituary

Donald F. Ball, Sr., 83 of 200 West Grove St., Dexter, NY, died Friday in the Samaritan Keep Home, Watertown, NY. Born in Dexter, NY on April 17, 1925, he was the son of Arthur and Hazel (Bauter) Ball. Mr. Ball married MabelBestor October 23, 1943 at Emmanuel Congregational Church Of Watertown. He served during World War II in the Army from July 10, 1944 to March 21, 1946. He served in Central Europe and received the Purple Heart after being wounded in February 1945. He was a Maintenance Supervisor, employed by City Of Watertown at the Water Department until he retired in April of 1980. The couple moved to Florida following his retirement and lived there 15 years until returning to Dexter in 1997. He was a member of VFW of Watertown, Smith Savage Post 583 American Legion in Dexter, Northside Improvement League and was past president and a life member. Survived by his wife: Mabel(Bestor) Ball and the following children: Donald F. Ball Jr. address unknown, George and Karen Ball of Detroit, Michigan, Linda Loomis of Dexter, Suzanne Horbacz of Watertown and Charles and Shayne Ball of Dexter. He also has eleven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Donations may be made to the Association of the Blind at 321 Prospect St. Watertown, N.Y. 13601, or the Dexter Fire Dept and Ambulance Fund. Arrangements are with Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter.
