Obituary

Donald A. LaFex, age 86 of County Rt. 59, Dexter passed away Saturday morning at Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown. He had been a patient at University Hospital, Syracuse and was transferred to Samaritan Medical Center on Friday. Donald was born October 17, 1921 in Watertown. He was the son of James and Catherine Jock LaFex. He attended school in Watertown and entered the Army in 1943 and served until 1945 in the European Theatre. Donald married Rosemary Traynor on April 27, 1940 in Watertown. Following the service he worked at N.Y. Air Brake where he was a machinist until retiring in 1984. Donald was a member of Smith Savage Post 583 American Legion of Dexter. Surviving is his wife Rosemary and a daughter Judy Sawyer of Dexter and a son James LaFex of Cape Vincent. He also has eight grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren, and two brothers George and Everet LaFex both of Watertown. Nieces and nephews also survive. A memorial service will be held Wednesday 2:00 P.M. at the Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter with Fr. Kevin O'Brien, pastor of Immaculate Conception Church of Brownville officiating. There are no callings hours. He will be cremated. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's' Association in lieu of flowers.
