Donald B. Luckett, age 69 of NYS Rt 12E. Cape Vincent died Sunday afternoon at Samaritan Medical Center where he had been a patient since November 20th. Donald was born February 22, 1938 in E. Rochester, the son of Alvin F. and Elizabeth Nipe Luckett. He was a graduate of Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics and was an airplane mechanic for American Airlines and a private pilot for Sinclair Oil, Arrow Shirts and American Express. He later was a self employed building contractor and excavator for many years in Mahopac, N.Y. He retired to Cape Vincent in 1998. He was married to Dorothy Smith who died in 1993. He is survived by his very good friend Barbara J. Patchett of Cape Vincent. He has a son and daughter-in-law Kenneth and Suzette Luckett of Deland, Florida and a daughter and son-in-law Kimberly and Jerry Dipple of Dublin, Texas. An aunt Avis Dutko of Rochester, N.Y. and a brother-in-law Lawrence Smith of Scottsville, N.Y. also survive. He also has nine grandchildren and two cousins. A prayer service will be held Friday 2:00 P.M. at the Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Cape Vincent. Calling hours will be Friday from 11:00 -2:00 p.m. Donations may be made to Cape Vincent Fire and Ambulance Fund.
