Obituary

Dorothy M. Bachner, age 92 of Sackets Harbor died Monday afternoon at Samaritan Keep Home. Dorothy was born March 31, 1915 in Black River. She was the daughter of Charles and Mary Minkler Guyett. She graduated from Watertown High School. She married Martin Bachner on February 20, 1935 at Sackets Harbor. Dorothy worked at N.Y. Airbrake during WWII. The couple owned and operated Sackets Inn from 1946 until her retirement in 1986. She was a Life member of Post 1757 American Legion Auxiliary of Sackets Harbor; she was also a member of Vida Chapter Order of Eastern Star of Sackets Harbor, member of White Shrine and N.Y.S. Representative for the State of Washington for the Eastern Star. Mr. Bachner died March 25, 1997. She is survived by the following children and their spouses: Richard and Margaret Bachner of Bluffton, S.C., Fred and Mary Bachner of Dryden, N.Y., Robert and Lauren Bachner of Ravena, N.Y., Donald and Mary Bachner of Sackets Harbor, N.Y., Jean Golden of Baldwinsville, N.Y., Irene Farmer of Watertown, N.Y. She has a brother Arnold and Marge Guyett of Watertown and 18 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, several step grandchildren, nieces and nephews also surviving. She was predeceased by a daughter Shirley Bachner in infancy, a grandchild and brothers Fred Guyett and Ervin Minkler. Funeral services will be held Saturday 10:00 a.m. at the United Presbyterian Church of Sackets Harbor with the Rev. Dr. Cynthia Walton, pastor officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Sackets Harbor. Calling hours will be Friday from 5-8 P.M. at the Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter. Donations may be made to Sackets Harbor Ambulance Fund or United Presbyterian Church of Sackets Harbor.
