Obituary

Edgar Bradberry, age 82 years old, went to meet our Lord on October 18, 2013. He was a Civil Service Employee, from Ft. Drum, N.Y. and a retired U.S. Army Reservist. He served 2 years active duty, War on the Atomic Bomb tests in Nevada, and also on Operation Snow Storm at Ft. Drum. He was born in Iaeger, West Virginia on May 23, 1931 to Dewey and Nancy Roberts Bradberry. Graduated from Iaeger High School, worked for Sammy's Gulf Station in Iaeger, Light and Power Co. before entering the service. He married Melberta Aldous on August 2, 1953 in Canton, N.Y. When he was discharged from the service the couple lived in Watertown and later Sackets Harbor. He was a member of Sackets Harbor Masonic Lodge, Lions, Life member of American Legion, an elder and deacon of the United Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his wife and seven children: Karen and Jeffrey Strife of Watertown, Susan Chawgo of Sackets Harbor, Nancy Bradberry of Sackets Harbor, Allen and Cindy Bradberry of Sandy Creek, Kevin and Michele Bradberry of Lorraine, Sarah and Zachary Rogers of Sackets Harbor, and Darcy and Mark Smith of Fair Haven. He also has 16 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sons Edson and James. A funeral service will be 1:00 P.M. Tuesday October 22nd at the United Presbyterian Church in Sackets Harbor with Rev. Melody Long officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery with military honors. Calling hours will be Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. at Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter. A Masonic service will be held at 7:00 P.M. Monday evening. Donations may be made to Hospice of Jefferson County or the United Presbyterian Church of Sackets Harbor.
