Obituary

Edna A. Bradford, 89, passed February 28, 2016 at the Samaritan Keep Nursing Home where she had been a resident.

Born on April 12, 1926 in Daytona Beach, FL, daughter of Ernest and Gladys (Camley) Knapp, she attended Stowe High School in Stowe, VT. She later received her GED following a home study course in 1972.

She married Harold A. Bradford on June 28, 1943 at the home of her parents in Stowe, VT. Mr. Bradford worked for the City of Watertown as a building inspector, retiring in 1986. Mrs. Bradford worked as a sales associate for local department stores and was a ward secretary at Mercy Hospital for many years. She was also a homemaker.

She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene and was born again in 1948. She served on the church board and was the former chairwomen of the stewards. The couple were both active in teaching Sunday school and in missionary endeavors. She and her husband were also former members of the Gideon's International and the Women's Christian Temperance Union.

She enjoyed reading, writing poetry, sewing, crocheting and bowling.

Her survivors include a son; David R. Bradford and his companion, Sylvia Strobel, Victor, NY and Mayer, Arizona; Two grandchildren, David Scott Bradford and his companion Angie Nobles, Hamlin, NY; Lisa Swaitek and husband Mark Swaitek , Hilton, NY; five great grandchildren; Kara, Emma, Maris, McKenna and Austin; and great, great grandchild, Gavin. Daughter-in-law Shelia Lester Bradford, Rochester, N.Y. Three sisters, Elaine Smith, Gainesville, FL, Norma Knapp Dyke , Bozeman, Montana, Jeanne Bordeau, Barefoot Bay, FL; Niece Patricia Darrow andlong time friend Karen Monaghan, Watertown, N.Y.

She is pre deceased by her husband Harold, a sister, Fern Titus, two brothers, Munn and Bernard Knapp, and a granddaughter, Michelle Lisa Bradford.

A celebration of Edna's life will take place at the Life Church of the Nazarene in Watertown, April 2, 2016 at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in the Black River Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Church of the Nazarene, Watertown N.Y. Arrangements are with the Bruce Funeral Home.
