Obituary

Edna M. Watkins-Washburn age 82 of Curtis Apartments, Watertown, died Friday evening at Mercy Health Center. She was born February 11, 1924 in Watertown, the daughter of Michael and Agnes Flynn O'Flaherty. She graduated from Watertown High School. She married George Watkins in February of 1946 in Oakland, California and lived in California a short while and moved back to Watertown. George died in 1965. She later married Kenneth Washburn on September 26, 1981. She traveled to Florida to winter and lived on Pillar Point until moving to Watertown about two years ago. She was a Tester at Faichney's Thermometer Company on State St. Watertown after High School and was a waitress at Fairground Inn, bank teller at National Bank of Northern N.Y. until retiring in 1967. She was a member of Rustic Golf Club of Dexter and former member of the North Side Improvement League. She loved to roller-skate, swim, was an artist, enjoyed scrabble. She is survived by her husband Kenneth and the following children; Daniel M. Watkins of Pillar Point, Ronald L. Watkins of Florida, Christopher and Alta Watkins of Brownville, Mrs. Mario Kim Rodriguez of Brownville. She has three grandchildren and three great grandchildren and a sister Gertrude Ransome of Watertown and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother Michael O'Flaherty and a sister Erva Trainham. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday at the Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter Burial will be in North Watertown Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 12-2:00 prior to the funeral. Donations may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation.
