Obituary

Edward R. Holder, 84, of 613 Meade St., Watertown, passed September 16, 2016 at home where he was under the care of his family.

Calling hours will be 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, September 19 at the Hart & Bruce Funeral Home, Watertown.

The funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 20 at the funeral home.  Burial with military honors will follow at the Brookside Cemetery.

He was born on September 30, 1931 in Limerick, NY, son of Elwood and Lena Sanford Holder, he attended Brownville High School.

Following school he was a tractor operator for Miles Gonseth in Brownville from 1945 to 1950.  He then entered the US Army on October 24, 1950 in Watertown, NY and served with the 45th Infantry Division.  He was honorably discharged on February 9, 1951.

Upon his discharge he became a butcher working for Stan Grant in Watertown for several years, the Brownville Meat Co. where he was a butcher and drove truck for ten years, Adams Meat Co. which was later sold and became the Watertown Meat Co., there he was the manager and butcher for 15 years and retiring from Renzi's Meat Market after three years. Following his retirement he worked part time as a butcher and driving truck for Glen-Nel Ranch.

He owned and operated Holder's Snow Removal for over 15 years.  He was also a member of the Felts Mills Fire Department for five years serving as a fire policeman.

Among his survivors are his wife, Michelle Holder, Watertown; three sons and two daughters law, Gerald Holder, Watertown, Scott and Tammy Lobdell, Sackets Harbor, Timothy and Lisa Lobdell, Watertown; a step son, James Austin, Evans Mills; eight daughters, Diane Holder, Shirley Holder Putnam, Watertown, Dolores and Anthony Sucese, Massena, Tina Lobdell, Watertown, Caroline Holder, Denise Bidwell, Watertown, Francis Bidwell, Watertown, Danielle and Marty Brown, Watertown, a brother and sister in law, Elwood "Bud" and Madeline Holder Sr., Adams Center; a brother in law, Robert LaHair, CO; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and his beloved dogs, Diesel, Jack and Mack.

A son, Edward Holder Jr., a sister Elizabeth LaHair and a niece, Judy LaHair all died before him.
