Elfriede H. Nier, age 49 of Miller Road, Adams passed away at her home Thursday morning. She had been under the care of her family and Hospice of Jefferson County. She had been ill with cancer. Elfriede was born January 6, 1959 in Wiesbaden-Biebrich, Germany, the daughter of Hilfsarbeiters Gustav and Alfrieda Herta Ackermann. She attended schools in Germany. She married Donald Nier in 1995 in Boylston, N.Y. She was a housewife and enjoyed shopping and bingo. A previous marriage ended in divorce. She is survived by her husband Donald and a daughter Mrs. Steve Anne Marie Overton of Adams and five grandchildren. She also has two sisters- Rosalinde Schneider and Luise B. Volk both of Germany also surviving. She was predeceased by children Angelina Beech July 22, 1994, Micki R. Beech July 14, 1983 and a stillborn son Josh in October 1979. A brother Friedbert Ackermann also predeceased her. Funeral services will be held Monday 11:00 a.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter with the retired Rev. Jurgene Gierga of the New Apostolic Church, Syracuse, officiating. Burial will be in Rural Cemetery Adams in the spring. Calling hours will be from 7-9 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home. Donations may be made to Hospice of Jefferson County or Walker Cancer Treatment Center, Watertown.
