Ellen R. Lapointe, age 75 of NYS Rte 12F Brownville passed away at her home under the care of her family and Hospice of Jefferson County Saturday at 6:15 PM. Ellen was born April 13, 1931 in Utica, N.Y. the daughter of Kenneth and Majel Waters Vrooman. She graduated from Brownville Glen Park High School in 1948. She also attended Jefferson Community College for a year. She married Maurice J. Lapointe on May 29, 1950 at Immaculate Conception Church, Brownville. Ellen was a Library Aide at Brownville Glen Park Elementary School for ten years, she later was Librarian at Brownville Glen Park Public Library for ten years retiring in 1998. She was a member of Brownville Altar Rosary Society. Surviving is her husband Maurice and two children and their spouses- Gerard and Donna Lapointe of North Berwick, Maine and Inday and Robert VanEpps of Dexter. She also has five grandchildren and three great grandchildren and a sister Ann Bender of South Carolina surviving her. A memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 am Saturday at the Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter. Fr. Robinson of St. Anthony's Catholic Church of Watertown to officiate. There will be no calling hours. Donations may be made to Hospice of Jefferson County or American Legion of Dexter.
