Obituary

Ervin A. Colligan, age 89 of Glen St. Glen Park passed away at his home Friday evening at 9:05 P.M. He had been under the care of his family and Hospice of Jefferson County. Ervin was born July 23, 1919 in Watertown. He was the son of Ernest and Lena Poth Colligan. He graduated from Brownville- Glen Park High School in 1936. Ervin was a Truck driver for Dexter Hardware, Dexter Fuel and Lumber Co. and Watertown Petroleum; from which he retired. He also was a part time bartender at Allen Giles Post #588 American Legion in Brownville and the VFW in Watertown. Ervin married Mildred Ganter on August 31, 1940 at the bride's home by the Rev. Frederick Vogt. He enjoyed camping in summers at the family cottage on Pillar Point and enjoyed listening to audio book tapes when his eyesight failed him. He is survived by two sons and their wives, Dale and Kathy Colligan and David and Susan Colligan all of Dexter. He has five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. He also has a sister Virginia Kissell of St. Petersburg, Florida and several nieces and nephews. A son Gary and two brothers Hugh and Eddie predeceased him. A memorial service will be held Tuesday evening at 8:00 P.M. at the Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter with the Rev. Patricia Walz of Dexter United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in North Watertown Cemetery at the convenience of the family. He will be cremated. Calling hours will be from 6-8 P.M. Tuesday evening.
