Obituary

Eugene J. Parker Sr., age 87 of Rte 12E. Brownville passed away at his home Thursday morning at 3:30 am. He was born February 20, 1919 at his current home. He was the son of George and Isabelle McAvoy Parker. He graduated from Brownville-Glen Park High School in 1936. He then graduated from Watertown School of Commerce in 1937. He worked for Western Union where he telegraphed news to the Watertown Times he worked at Brownville Paper until he became a Supervisor at Pine Camp during World War 11. Later he worked for Trapp Oil Co. of Brownville where he was Oil Burner Serviceman and delivered oil, He then became Supervisor for Town of Brownville from 1964-1982. He was Chairman of the Board of Town of Brownville from 1980-82. He was also President of Brownville Housing Authority since its inception. He married Joan Rochow who died in 1963. He later married Carol E. Moffat on June 20, 1974 at Hope Presbyterian Church of Watertown by the Rev. Ebbe Arvidson. He was a member of Brownville Fire Department for 57 years. He was Fire Chief from 1950-1963. He was also a member of the Fire Police and was a Past President of Jefferson County Fire Chiefs Association. He was a member of Dexter United Presbyterian Church and an elder of that church. He was a very avid gardener. He is survived by his wife Carol and the following children: Patricia and Howard Fox of Cincinnatus, N.Y. Eugene J. and Margaret Parker Jr. of Greensboro, N.C. Raynor and Beverly Parker of Virginia Beach, Virginia Louisa Ann (LuAnn) Timme of Key Largo, Florida Nancy and Richard Woodring of Victor, N.Y. Paul E. and Phyllis Parker of Greensboro, N.C. Florence A. and Robert Hare of Farmington, N.Y. Lawrence (Bud) and Debi Parker of Northport, Fl. Amy E. and David Baker of Brownville Charleen E. and Michael Sprabary of Krum, Texas He has 26 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and a brother George Parker of Miami, Florida also surviving. He was predeceased by two grandchildren. Funeral services will be 10:00 am Monday at the Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter. Burial will be in Brownville Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9. Donations may be made to Brownville EMS or the charity of ones choice.
