Evelyn G. Hogan, 84, of County Route 59, Pillar Point, died Friday, May 11, at Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown, under the vigil of her children, grandchildren and their spouses. Born March 27, 1928, in Philadelphia, N.Y., the daughter of William C. and Grace Hunt Eddy, she graduated in 1945 from Antwerp High School. She married Frank A. Hogan in July 1947. Frank died Jan. 11, 1971. Mrs. Hogan worked as a waitress in several diners in Watertown, at King's General Store from 1956 to 1969, at Limerick Post Office, and at Fay's Drugs from 1969 to retirement in 1991. She enjoyed traveling with long-time companion Elmer Schultz who died June 2001. They went to Florida every year for 25 years and also enjoyed biking and NASCAR racing. She was an auxiliary member and past president of Smith Savage Post 583. Evelyn was a loving mother and grandmother. After she moved to Pillar Point in 1991, her home became the family "coffee shop" as each of her children would start their day with her each and every day. Surviving are two daughters and two sons, Constance and Stewart Nichols, Bonnie and Robert Seeber, Donald and Sandy Hogan, and Ronald and Cheryl Hogan, all of Dexter; grandchildren; Darlene and Chet Harmon, Heather and Charlie O'Brien, John and Crystal Hogan, Kelly and Sam Sanford, Bobby and Brenda Seeber, Kristy and Chris Littel, Jared and Shari Hogan, Katy and Matt Sanford, Diana and Gregor Smith, Danielle Hogan, Jennifer and Charles McMillen; and 17 great-grandchildren. A son, John Hogan, died April 10, 1975. A brother, Robert Eddy, and a sister, Emily Richie, predeceased her. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 15, at Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter. Burial will be in Barnes Settlement Cemetery, Alexandria Bay. Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, May 14, at the funeral home.
