Obituary

Flora C. "Peewee"Drake, 87, of Watertown, NY, passed away peacefully at her home on October 26, 2024. She was born on January 7, 1937, in Watertown, NY, the daughter of Claude and Catherine (Litz) Lawton

Flora met her husband, Lawrence S. Drake, Jr while he was serving in the Army.  The couple married on February 22, 1975, in Watertown. Following his honorable discharge in 1977, they settled in Watertown, where Lawrence worked as a civilian employee at Fort Drum and later as a heavy equipment mechanic for Vespa Sand and Stone. Together, they dedicated over 21 years to fostering children, touching many young lives.

Flora was known for her love of bingo, casino visits, and animals. Her warm, friendly spirit made her a true people person, and she cherished every moment spent with her family and friends.

She is survived by her two sons and a daughter in law, James (Debbie) Curtis and Timothy Curtis; her five daughters, Christine Harvey, Brenda (Christopher) Harvey, Lori Montiel, Paula Galaydick, and Kimberly Drake; her stepson, Lawrence S. Drake III; four stepdaughters, Dorothy, Rosie, and Stephanie Scott; adopted sons, Jamel, Kyron, and Shaymus Drake; adopted daughters, Kiara, Frances, Regina, and Melissa Drake, Stephanie Kraus; and many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Flora was predeceased by her parents, her beloved husband Lawrence, and seven brothers and six sisters.

In honoring her wishes, Flora will be cremated and a memorial service will be held 11 am on Friday, November 1st at Hart and Bruce Funeral Home.
