Frances D. Allen, age 81 of Portage St. Watertown passed away Tuesday 7:30 A.M. at the home of her son Timothy Steen on Griffin St. Watertown. She had been under the care of her family and Hospice of Jefferson County. Frances was born May 17, 1927 in Downsville, N.Y. the daughter of Phillip and Ella Mae Lockwood Allen. She attended school in Walton, N.Y. She had lived in Watertown for 40 years and 20 years on Pillar Point until moving back to Watertown recently. She was a cook at the N.Y. Airbrake and also Samaritan Keep Home in Watertown when they opened the nursing home. She retired in July of 1977. She was a member of Senior Citizens in Dexter. Surviving is her companion William Morowski of Dexter, and four children; Robert and Edina Allen of Ocala, Florida, Christina and John Hedges of Tucson, AZ, Ivan Steen Jr. of Pulaski, Timothy and Vicky Steen of Watertown. She also has nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. A brother Richard Allen of Walton, N.Y. and nieces and nephews also survive. She was predeceased by a great grandson and a brother Lester Allen. Funeral services will be Saturday 11:00 a.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter with the Rev. Toby Schilling, Chaplain at Samaritan Keep Home officiating. Burial will be in Walton Cemetery, Walton, N.Y. Calling hours will be Friday from 7-9 P.M. at Johnson Funeral Home.
