Obituary

Francine M. Hanlon, 86, of Watertown, New York, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2026, at the Hospice Residence of Jefferson County at the Ellis Farm.

Francine was born on June 6, 1940, in Warsaw, New York, the daughter of Jerry and Helen (Scorsone) Gullo. She graduated from Watertown High School in 1957. 

On November 23, 1957, she married Patrick D. Hanlon at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.Francine and Patrick made their home in Watertown, where she was a devoted homemaker while raising her children. As her children grew older, she began working for the Watertown City School District, where she served as a secretary for 26 years before retiring in 1996. Patrick worked as a truck driver for 32 years.

Francine cherished the time she spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She and Patrick also enjoyed traveling together as a couple. She was a faithful member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and enjoyed baking and cooking for her family. Francine was also active with Life Right Organization in Watertown, where she served as treasurer.

Among her survivors are her beloved husband of 68 years, Patrick D. Hanlon; her son, Sean Hanlon, and his companion, Michele Russell, of Canandaigua, New York, and Bradenton, Florida; her daughter-in-law, MarissaHanlon of Watertown; her grandchildren, Amanda (Eric) Thomas and Meredith (Brandon) Carpe; two great-grandchildren, Chase Carpe and Neil Thomas; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was predeceased by her parents; her two sons, Patrick and Jerry Hanlon; and her brother, Joseph Gullo.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, August 27, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Hart & Bruce Funeral Home.

 A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 28, at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.
