Obituary

Frederick J. Quencer, age 76 of Brownville, N.Y. passed away at 3:12am at Samaritan Medical Center Tuesday. He had been a patient since March 19th. A funeral service will be held Thursday 11:00 a.m. at Concordia Lutheran Church with the Rev. David Windle former pastor officiating. Burial will be in Brownville Cemetery in the spring. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 at the Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter. Lions Club of Brownville will hold a service 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. Donations may be made to Town of Brownville Lions Club. Fred was born February 5, 1932 in Theresa; the son of Jacob and Lillian Campbell Quencer. He graduated from Evans Mills High School and Watertown School of Commerce and received his accounting degree from Syracuse University in 1963. He married Beverly A. Wilkinson on December 18, 1954 at the Lutheran Church in Watertown. The couple have resided at their present home all their married lives where Fred has owned and operated the Frederick J. Quencer CPA firm. He is survived by his wife Beverly and the following children and their spouses: William J. and Catherine Quencer of Dexter, Gary F. and Laurie Quencer of Dexter, Kathy L. Quencer and her fiancee' John G. Hardy of Dexter, Deborah Quencer at home and two grandchildren Elizabeth and Luke Quencer of Dexter. Fred was a member of Dexter Masonic Lodge #1072, Watertown Elks Club, Watertown American Legion, and Brownville Lions Club, Concordia Lutheran Church. Fred joined the Lions Club in 1962 and has maintained perfect attendance and chaired most major club committee, the Jefferson County Fair refreshment stand which he co-organized in 1969, Fred has been an officer or director for 17 of his 32 years in Lions Club and was president in 68-69 and 91-92. He was Lion of the Year in 69-70 and 88-89. With District 20-W he was Zone Chairman in 69-70 and 71-72. He was the first Public Relations Chair for the District and served 5 years prior to becoming District Governor in 77-78. He has served as Membership Chair 5 years, Convention and Conference Chair 6 years, Finance Chair 3 years, Leadership Chair 1 year, Lions Information Chair 1 year and Presenter in Officers Training Seminar, Mid Winter Conference and Forum for 22 years. He was past master of Dexter Masonic Lodge, Past President of Concordia Lutheran Church of Watertown and Northern New York Chapter of Institute of Management Accountants. A 50 year member of Pamelia Grange. Director and vice president of Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired of Jefferson County, Inc.
