Freida V. Graves 88, formerly of 933 LeRay St. and 158 East Hoard St., Watertown, passed Monday, April 4, 2016 at Samaritan Summit Village where she had been a resident.

The funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, April 9 at the Hart & Bruce Funeral Home, Watertown. Burial will follow in the Brookside Cemetery.

Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 8 at the funeral home.

Freida was born September 7, 1927 in Hounsfield, NY. She is the daughter of the late Stanley and Emma (Fulmer) Peer.  She graduated from Sackets Harbor High School in 1944 as Salutatorian.

Following school she worked at Pine Camp and Sears as a secretary.  She married John Graves on October 20, 1946 at the Dexter Parsonage.  She and her husband resided in Watertown where she raised five children. Her husband worked at St. Regis Paper Co., retiring in 1987. He passed October 8, 2002.

Freida enjoyed playing Bingo, knitting, crocheting, traveling, tour boat rides on the St. Lawrence River and feeding the ducks and geese from her hotel balcony in Alex Bay.

She is survived by two sons and daughter In law, James S. Graves, her primary caregiver in her later years, Watertown, Terry and Bernadette Graves, NY; three daughters: Suzette J. Karelis, FL, Peggy Buck ,OH and Jacalyn Hardy, TX; 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her two brothers, Alexander "Joe" Peer  and  Stanley "Sonny" Peer, five sisters, Ruth McWayne, Mable Boratynski, Lillian Slate,  Marjorie Butler and Marion Zuzula.
