Obituary

Gary E. Gardner, 65, of 25343 County Rt. 32, Calcium, passed December 4, 2014 at the Jefferson County Hospice Residence at the Ellis Farm.

Born on March 30, 1949 in the Town of Pamelia, son of Ernest M. and Constance M. Hubbard Gardner, he attended General Brown High School.

Following school he served in the Army Reserves for eight years.

He and his father worked together on many metal buildings and grain bins in the local area.  Gary also worked for his father who owned Patz Equipment Co. in Calcium up until Ernest passed away.  He continued working in sales and service for Patz Equipment servicing the community farmers up until 2012, when he was diagnosed with severe melanoma.

Gary married Diana Duff on July 18, 1970, the marriage ended in divorce.  He had a long time companion for over twenty years, Joanne Weeks, who passed July 10, 2014.

Among his survivors are two daughters and a son in law, Kelly J. and William E. Harris, Troy, NY, Krista L. Vaughn, Huntsville, Alabama; a son, Gary E. W. Gardner, CO; two grandchildren, Alanna Harris and Brett Vaughn; his mother, Constance M. Gardner, Calcium; a sister and brother in law, Doreen J. and Eric Young III, Watertown; his companions two daughters, Dawn Stenoski, Dorothy Bidwell and son Randy Stenoski and his wife Barbara, all of Watertown; several nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.

Gary enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, wood working, and puzzles.  He was a member of the Calcium and North Pole Fire Department where he enjoyed working dinners, parades and much more.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday December 6 at the Hart & Bruce Funeral Home, Watertown.  Burial will follow at the Sanford Corners Cemetery.

A calling hour will be 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, December 6 at the funeral home.
