Gaynard C. Burnup, age 82 of Main St. Sackets Harbor, passed away at Lakeland Medical Center, Lakeland Florida Monday March 17th. Gaynard was born April 6, 1931 in Black River, N.Y. the son of Floyd D. and Denzel Fawdry Burnup. He graduated from Sackets Harbor High School and was a Korean War Veteran serving in the U.S.Navy . Gaynard married Claudine Guffey on September 5, 1955 at Christ Episcopal Church in Sackets Harbor. Gaynard was a millwright at St. Regis and Champion Paper Mill until he retired. He was a member of the Harold W. Townsend Post 1757 American Legion in Sackets Harbor and a lifetime member of the Black River Valley Fiddlers Association. He is survived by his wife Claudine, a son Kevin Burnup of Atlanta, Georgia and a daughter Sandy and her husband Glenn Durham of Fulton, N.Y. He has three grandchildren, a sister Octolena Parker of Jupiter, Florida. nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Floyd Burnup and a sister Cora Breuer and Thelma McHale. A graveside service will be held May 23rd at 1:00 P.M. at Lakeside Cemetery, Sackets Harbor with military honors. Arrangements are with Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter.
