Obituary

Gerald R. Kimmett, age 91 of Old Rome State Rd. Watertown, passed away Sunday evening at his son's home in the Town of Champion; under the care of family and Hospice of Jefferson County. Gerald was born October 12, 1922 in Roblin, Ontario Canada the son of Albert and Florence McAdam Kimmett. He graduated from Sackets Harbor High School and entered the Marine Corps on January 8, 1943 and served until December 26, 1945 as a corporal. Gerald married Viola A. Price on May 28, 1955 at the Sackets Harbor Presbyterian Church. She passed away October 12, 2009. Gerald was a sheet-metal worker who was employed by Alcoa, worked at 9 Mile Nuclear Plant and retired from Hydes' Plumbing and Heating Co. in Watertown. He was a life- member of Marine Corps League, Brownville American Legion Post #588, VFW of Watertown. He enjoyed gardening and later on golf. He is survived by two sons and their wives: Brian and Brenda Kimmett of Carthage, Gregory and Annea Kimmett of Lakeland, Florida. He has three grandchildren, one great grandchild and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife and brothers: Stanley, Elroy and Donald Kimmett. Calling hours will be Thursday August 14th from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at the Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter. He will then be cremated and a memorial service will be held Monday August 18th at 1:00 P.M. at the Johnson Funeral Home with Rev. Sally Buyea of the Brownville United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow with military honors at Lakeside Cemetery, Sackets Harbor. Donations may be made to the Brownville American Legion or the Brownville United Methodist Church.
