Gladys M "Frenchie" Lucas Kinne, age 76 of Evans Rd. Brownville, died September 2, 2009. Frenchie was under the care of her family and Hospice of Jefferson County during her 15 month ordeal with pancreatic cancer. Frenchie was born October 4, 1932 at home on Pillar Point.. She was the daughter of Clarence E. and Gladys Gould Lucas Merriam. She attended school in Brownville and Watertown. She worked as a waitress at various restaurants including Morgias', , , Scottys' Cold Creek Inn, The Music Box, Gene's Inn, and also did banquet work at the Brownville Hotel, The Hotel Woodruff and the Black River Valley Club. Frenchie married William E. Kinne of Watertown , November 19, 1950 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Brownville. She is survived by her husband Bill and six children; Cheryl C "Cheri". and Dennis McGurn of Adams, William E. and Dawna Kinne of Pulaski, Bonnie L. and Louis McCormick of Brownville, Stephen J. Kinne of Clearwater, Florida, Carol M. and Michael Mallette of Gadston, Alabama, and Ward N. and Christy Kinne of Overland Park, Kansas. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren; sisters Mary DePew of Watertown and Ina M and Raymond. Filley of Dexter. First and foremost Frenchie was a mother and homemaker. She loved children and enjoyed spending summers on their antique boat, cruising the St. Lawrence River. She also enjoyed playing scrabble, crossword puzzles, gardening and working with flowers. She was a member of the Coast Guard Auxilliary and the 100 Islands Bluegrass Preservation Society. Frenchie was predeceased by brothers Herbert H. Lucas and Clarence "Sonny" Lucas and sisters Emma Lagodich, Catherine "Kitty" Babcock and Wiltsie "Teany" Wischoff, a daughter-in-law Linda L. L Kinne and infant grandchildren Jay Daniel Kinne, and infant great grandchildren Ella and Joey Kinne and Jeremiah Lee Cook. Funeral services will be Saturday 3:00 P.M. at the Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter with Fr. Walter Giles officiating. Burial will be in Sanford Corners Cemetery, Calcium.
