Gladys I. Frye, 94, formerly of 195 Maple St., Black River, passed August 17, 2014 at the Country Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Carthage, where she had been a resident.

A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 20 at the Bruce Funeral Home, Black River.

Burial will follow in the Harrisville Cemetery.

Born on February 18, 1920 in the town of Pitcarin, the daughter of Orlo C. and Alfretta A. Aldous Frye, she graduated from Harrisville High School in 1939.

Following school she moved to Carthage and worked several years as a domestic worker for the Konig family.  She moved to Black River in 1978 where she was a member of the Black River United Methodist Church and United Methodist Church Women's Group. She was also a member of the Garland Rebekah Lodge #151 in Watertown.
