Obituary

Gordon E. Timerman, age 75 of E. Kirby St. Dexter died Saturday afternoon at his home. He had been under the care of Hospice of Jefferson County and his family. Gordon was born August 2,1934 in Dexter, the son of Emory W. and Christine E. VanAlystine Timerman. He graduated from Dexter High School and Jefferson Community College for Criminal Justice. Gordon served in the Navy from 1954 until 1958 with the Seabees Construction Battalion. Gordon married Katherine M. Bond on November 21, 1959 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Clayton. Gordon worked for the NYS Dept. of Transportation for 33 years retiring in 1990 as Highway Maintenance Supervisor11. He also served as a Police Officer for the Village of Dexter from 1970 until 1977. Gordon was a member of Immaculate Conception Church of Brownville, Smith-Savage Post 583 of Dexter for 36 years where he was Past Commander and past Jefferson County Commander, Dexter Historical Society, CSEA Federal Credit Union, Dexter Fire Dept., Dexter Planning Board from 1992-2008, Dexter Library Board for 15 years and the Dexter Cemetery Board. He is survived by his wife Katherine, children Deborah M. Timerman and Martin Zofcin of Wolworth, N.Y., Mrs. James (Darlene D. ) Cupernall of Ormond Beach, FL., David G. Timerman of Irmo, South Carolina. He has grandchildren Alan Cupernall of Ormond Beach and Mrs. Brandon (Kristen) Haidaczuk of Limerick and great grandson Brandon Haidaczuk of Limerick. He was predeceased by his parents and a sister Nellie Barr. A funeral mass will be held Tuesday 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church of Brownville with Fr. Kevin O'Brien officiating. Burial will be in Dexter Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday from 6-8 P.M. at the Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter. The family requests donations to Dexter Fire Dept. or the Dexter Historical Society.
