Grace P. Johnstone, 98, of 27 Chase St., Auburn, NY passed March 6, 2015 at the Jefferson County Hospice Residence where she had resided since July 10, 2014.

Born on February 1, 1917 in Burke, NY, daughter of the late Lewis and Ethel Hinks Percy, she graduated from Chateauguay High School in 1935.

She married James Johnstone in 1940 in Burke, NY.  The couple resided in Burke, NY,  in 1954 they moved to Saranac Lake and in 1965 the couple moved to Auburn, where her husband was a carpenter up until he passed in 1995.

Grace was a homemaker and she enjoyed gardening, flowers, cooking, knitting and sewing.

Among her survivors are a son and daughter in law, Lewis J. and Beatrix B. Johnstone of Cape Vincent and Staten Island; two daughters and their husbands, Ethel and Larry Spinner, Edmonton, Alberta Canada. Norma and Royden Hutchinson, New Albany, Indiana; 12 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 12 great great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

A daughter, Joyce Johnstone, a sister, Pearl Heath and a brother Earl Percy all passed before her.

Arrangements are with the Hart & Bruce Funeral Home, Watertown.

A funeral service will take place at the North Burke Church followed by the North Burke Cemetery in the spring.
