Obituary

Guy B. Lane, age 91 of NYS Rte 12E, Dexter passed away 1:00 P.M. at Mercy Health Center on Saturday. He had been a patient there since October of 1996. Guy was born May 20, 1918 in Watertown; the son of Guy H. and Anna M. Gerstenschlager Lane. He graduated from Brownville-Glen Park High School. He served in the Army Air Corps 1994-1946 as an aerial gunner. He married Helen M. Mallette on February 17, 1968 in Watertown. He worked for General Electric Cablevision in Watertown and retired in 1980. He was a 56 year member of Brownville American Legion Post 588, was a captain of the Emergency Police for many years. He was an avid hunter, reloader and fisherman. He is survived by his wife Helen and the following children: James and Marieann Stowell of Dexter, Vicky and William Peck of Lafargeville, Steven Stowell of Gouverneur, Joseph and Catherine Marks of Brownville, Susan Campbell of Chaumont and Kimberley and Timothy Speece of Alabama. A sister Helen Vandermill of Watertown, six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. He was predeceased by sons Thomas Lane and Timothy Stowell. Funeral services will be Wednesday 11:00 a.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter. Burial will be in Brownville Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 7-9 P.M.
