Harold F. Bowman, age 84 of County Rte 59 Dexter, passed away Sunday 4:40 P.M. at Mercy Health Care in Watertown. He had resided there since July 2006. Harold was born August 24, 1926 in Watertown the son of Clifford and Arabella Adams Bowman. He graduated from Dexter High School in 1943. Harold married Loretta M. Eveleigh on September 18, 1948 at Sulphur Springs Methodist Church. The couple lived on Pillar point where he operated a farm. Harold also was a Rural Letter Carrier for the Post Office retiring in 1991. Loretta passed away in 2008. Harold was a member of Dexter Masonic Lodge #1072, Dexter Grange, Holstein Club, was a 4-H Leader, Town of Brownville Councilman for 4 years, and a member of several farm organizations. He enjoyed traveling, attending high school sports events and community functions and Jefferson County Fair and farm events. He is survived by two sons and their spouses; John and Esther Bowman of Eagle Pass, Texas, Donald and Jane Bowman of Dexter. He has four grandchildren, two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers Kermit and Richard Bowman and sisters Barbara Eldridge and Marjorie Tommeraus. He was also predeceased by a son Richard in 1971. Funeral services will be Thursday 11:00 a.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter with Rev. Gail Parsons of Dexter Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be in Dexter Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. with a Masonic service at 7:00 P.M. Donations may be made to the Dexter Presbyterian Church.
