Obituary

Jack W. Gardner, age 76 of Evans Road, Dexter passed away Monday evening at Samaritan Medical Center. He had been a patient since October 25th. He was born December 16, 1929 in Watertown, the son of Ethan and Hazel Beach Gardner. He graduated from Watertown High School and also had a year at Jefferson Community College. He married Rosemary L. Burley on August 29, 1948 at the bride's home in Ellisburg. The couple lived in Brownville most of their married lives until moving to the Evans Road after retiring. He worked at Grants Store in Watertown, then Delrac Paint Store, Stebbins Engineering in Watertown for 20 years, Miller Brewing Co. in Fulton and then Green Thumb at the NYS Office Building in Watertown. He retired in 2003. He was a member of Brownville United Methodist Church and a former member of the Brownville Lions Club. He is survived by his wife Rosemary and the following children. John and Holly Gardner of Brownville, Timothy and Pamela Scee of Brownville, Craig and Amy Gardner of Vestal, N.Y. He has eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. He has two sisters, Joan Lyng of Watertown and Donna Iannuzzi of North Syracuse. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was predeceased by two brothers Ethan Jr. and William and also a sister Marie "Peggy" Johnson. A memorial service will be held in the spring at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Donations may be made to Brownville Rescue Squad or Brownville United Methodist Church Memorial Fund. Arrangements are with Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter.
