James A. Lucas, 73, a resident at the Hospice Residence of Jefferson County at the Ellis Farm passed May 31, 2017.

Arrangements are with the Hart & Bruce Funeral Home.  There will be no calling hours or funeral service.

A private burial will take place at the convenience of the family at Brookside Cemetery.

Born January 5, 1944 in Watertown, NY, son of Carla and Mary Cook Lucas, he graduated from Watertown High School.  Following school he attended Wanakena Ranger School and became a forest ranger. He went on however to work for the family business Cook Engineering in Watertown. For the next ten years he worked for New York State and retired from Fort Drum after 25 years of service as an Engineering Tech.

He married Dianne Berube on June 24, 1967 at Asbury United Methodist Church in Watertown. She was a homemaker and also worked on Fort Drum as a clerk in various offices for over 15 years.  She died December 24, 2012.

He was also a member of the NNY Corvette Club and enjoyed watching hockey.

Among his survivors are a son, Carl W. Lucas, Laguna Beach, CA; a daughter and son-in-law, Christine and George Trojan, Dover, NH and two grandchildren, Abby and Teddy Trojan.
