Obituary

James P. "Jim" Webb, 84 passed away on January 16th 2017 at Samaritan Medical Center. The funeral mass will be Saturday January 21st at 11:00 a.m. at St. Andrews Catholic Church, Sackets Harbor with Fr. Michael Gaffney officiating. Burial will be in the spring at Lakeside Cemetery, Sackets Harbor with military honors. There are no calling hours. Donations may be made to the Sackets Harbor Ambulance Fund. Jim was born March 17, 1932in Gouverneur, NY the son of the late Harry and Lillian Leibrock Webb of Edwards, NY. He graduated from Edwards Central High School in 1949 and Canton ATC in 1953. He served in the US Army Signal Corps from July 1953 to June 1955. He then served as an active Army Reservist until July 1978. Jim worked for the US Department of Defense as an Army Reserve Technician at the Army Reserve Center in Watertown, NY from July 1955 to September 1977. He then transferred to Ft. Drum, NY working in the Supply Division until retiring in March 1987. He enjoyed golfing and fishing and hockey and spending time with his family. He was a devoted Red Sox Fan for over 70 years. He was a church Sunday School Teacher and sang in the choir at St. Andrews Church. Jim and Linda Daniels of Fulton, NY were married December 26, 1955 at St. Francis Solanus Church in Harrisville, NY with Rev. Eugene O'Kelly officiating. Besides his loving wife of 61 years, he is survived by two sons: Daniel (Lindsay) Webb of Brownville, Jim Webb of Clayton and three daughters: Barbara (Donald) DeYear of Barnes Corners, Mary (Warren) Cramer of Watertown and Laura (Mike) VanValkensburg of Barnes Corners. He has five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. A sister predeceased him Elizabeth O'Brien in 2007. Arrangements are with Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter.
